Hale End & Highams Park Library, Highams Park

The library is thought to be safe from relocation and reduction in size but the Council has yet to formally confirm this at a Cabinet meeting or equivalent.  A wide range of activities take place at the Library, for further details visit the website www.walthamforest.gov.uk/content/hale-end-library.  Please support your local library.

 Anti-idling Initative

An anti-pollution initiative is under way to persuade drivers to switch off their engines instead if idling when waiting outside schools.  Ultimately, a driver can be fined for idling though at present they are just being asked to switch off their engines.

Council raises £32million in fines against drivers

Waltham Forest .has raised £32 million in fines over the past 4 years.  This is largely from parking fines, drivers entering and stopping within a box junction and driving in bus lanes.  Parking in a restricted street during prohibited hours is one offence that raises a lot of money.

 Borough of Culture

Waltham Forest has been successful in its bid to become the first ‘London Borough of Culture’.  This will start in 2019 with a series of events and is made possible with a grant of £1.35 million.  The Council is believed to have spent £1 million in order to win it.  Lets hope that the grant of £1.35 Million is used wisely with events spread across the whole borough.
